Spirits Tasting with Speakeasy
feat. John Bayer
Thursday, July 14, 2016 / 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
This Thursday, John Bayer from Speakeasy Spirits will be at the bar pouring some selections from his portfolio. It's Rickey Month in DC, and to help you celebrate in style, this week's featured spirits are three delicious craft gins! Even if you're not a fan of DC's native cocktail, it's definitely the time of year for gin drinks. So stop in for a taste and stock the bar! This tasting is free.
Greenhook Ginsmith's American Dry Gin: is made from organic wheat grown in New York crafted in custom made still pots. Distilled using a low-temperature process, the notes of Tuscan juniper, coriander, chamomile, elderflower, elderberry, Ceylon cinnamon, and Thai blue ginger come through beautifully.
Leopold's Navy Strength American Gin: This gin, at 114 proof, stands on its own very well with tonic and doesn't get lost. Each component is distilled individually to allow each botanical to show its full flavor profile in production. Juniper and Bergamot are a profound presence in this spirit. Together all the botanicals create a bold, and aromatic gin that plays well in any mixed cocktail.
Myer Farm Gin: If you really enjoy the heavier notes of juniper, coriander, cinnamon, and citrus in your gin give this a try. Distilled in the Finger Lakes Region of upstate New York, amid the thriving wineries of the Cayuga Wine Trail. The folks behind Myer Farm practice "field to bottle" production; from growing the grain to bottling the finished spirit, they have complete control of every step of the process, and it shows in the quality of the product.
